There has been a trend going on in the Hollywood film industry where certain horror flicks make their scare factor based off an aspect of life that upon following the characters through the movie, you’d see just how important such a thing would be.
For instance, take Birdbox as an example, the movie’s plot was set in a world thrown into “blind” chaos as other-wordly creatures preyed on the darkest inner thoughts of their victims who were unfortunate to look upon them, prompting them to either kill themselves or others.
For people who haven’t seen Birdbox, (apologies, but big shame to you guys), the story roughly centers around a mother trying to get to a sanctuary which rumor claims to be protected against these creatures. An epic scene, was where they had to cross a river to get to the other side, which they did blindedfolded! Like could you imagine it, I can’t get across my tiny bedroom without stubbing my toes against my bed but she had to paddle a fucking canoe against tempestuous waves. Now isn’t that badass?
Then we have A Quiet Place, another end of the world type scenario where the plot centers around another family trying to “silently” survive in the world against murderous creatures with quite exceptional hearing abilities. A world where making small a noise as a pin dropping would cause you instant death.
This movie didn’t also fall short of an epic scene as the lead actress, Emily Blunt, who was pregnant in the movie was going into labor and we all know how painful a process that is. Imagine having all 206 bones in your body being crushed all at the once. That is how painful labor is and she had to bear the pain inorder to avoid death. Mad o! Each movie was a worthy Oscar nomination, but sometimes we don’t get what we wish for.
Now, 2020, another blockbuster has been presented upon us. Going by the name, Coronavirus or as the “woke” populous have decided to call it by the strand name, the infamous Covid-19. Now this thriller was prereleased last year, 2019, in China and the Chinese could just not contain its greatness so it spread across the world as rapidly as it did through China. Now, surveys showed that the United States were even bigger fans of the show as they’ve surpassed their Chinese counterparts. Now isn’t that something. The plot is centered around the innocent consumption of a bat which caused a chain reaction of coughs, fevers and respiratory distress leading to the rapid spread of the virus, crumbling of the economy, forcing the world to go into indefinite isolation and humans into social distancing periods. Damn! A bat did all this? What a popcorn devouring storyline.
The world has now been placed in mild desolation, with streets near to empty, and face masks, gloves and sanitizers becoming the new fashion accessory everyone must have. With a cure almost no where in sight, the only way to kill the vicious link of its spread is to go into hidin-I mean self isolation. The keyword is Survival as everything else has been placed on hold till the virus has been curbed. New cases detected in the thousands, death tolls in the hundreds of thousands, this is truly the Endgame. However, the high spirits of the human race, though fading, have not been totally lost as we try to keep our sanity intact through heartful dark humor and colorful memes. So whether we’re in self quarantine or on the move with our trusty friend, Sany, remember that all hope is not lost. Well, unless this turns out to be like one of those zombie movies where the latent zombie phase soon takes over after a patient’s been discharged and we’ve got a World War Z on our hands(yet another dope ass movie of 2013s). You know, it’s almost as though these movies were actually warning us of an impending doom such as this. So while in isolation just think, what would Brad Pitt(World War Z), John Krasinski(A Quiet Place) and Sandra Bullock(Birdbox) do. Obviously they were badasses in the movies so don’t do that but instead just chill at home, wash your hands well, avoid touching suspected infected places and watch a good movie or series or anime. Oh! And enjoy some hearty memes too. Like…
